Dale Avery induction into the African American Hall of Fame Museum

Founded in 1987, the African American Hall of Fame Museum (AAHFM) maintains collections and exhibitions of African American life and culture. Each year the AAHFM inducts individuals who have contributed to African American History and advancement through outstanding service and/or community leadership and have given of their time and resources. This year, Dale Avery – president of the 100 Black Men of Illinois chapter has been recognized with that honor. Congratulations Dale!

100 Black Men of Central Illinois Bus TripThe 100 Black Men of Central Illinois is sponsoring a bus trip to Chicago for the 13th Annual College Scholarship Fair presented by the Chicago chapter of the 100 Black Men. This event has helped enable participating colleges and universities to provide millions of dollars in scholarships and grants, and thousands of college acceptances to attending high school students. Parents, teachers, and other stakeholders in the lives of students are also invited and encouraged to participate. Sign up here.

Passport Program trip to the Dusable Museum

image12The leadership team from Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal partnered with the 100 Black Men of Central Illinois to present the Passport to Manhood mentoring program to select male youths in our community. The ‘Passport” program was presented in our local B&G Club in seven, weekly stages from Nov.-Dec. 2014 focusing on the core values required of our young men to overcome the obstacles they may face in their daily lives. A few stages emphasized during the mentorship program were Academic Success, Cooperation and Conflict along with Responses to Authority.image7 Read More…
